Nordic Biomarker has been awarded The Export Success of the Year in Sweden 2022. The prize was awarded today, August 31, by Minister of Foreign Trade Anna Hallberg in the presence of H.K.H. Prince Daniel.

Nordic Biomarker is a Life science company that develops, manufactures and sells reagents for coagulation diagnostics – products that are important when it comes to, for example, blood clot diagnostics. The company has a large export and its products are used by several million patients worldwide.

Nordic Biomarker, the first Alumni of Umeå Biotech Incubator, and its subsidiaries have grown rapidly in recent years. Today, the company has a turnover of SEK 130 million and has approximately 80 employees, of which almost 50 of these are situated in the newly built (spring 2021) and customized premises in Umeå.

The company has previously been awarded several times at the local Umeågalan as the Growth Company of the Year, Spin-off of the Year, Export Company of the Year and in june 2022 they won the Technology and Industry Award.

Today Nordic Biomarker reached a new milestone when they were awarded nationally as the Export Success of the Year in Sweden by the Swedish Government.
With the award, initiated in 2021, The Government wants to draw attention to Swedish exports and espcially small and medium-sized companies.

– It's really fun to get some national attention. Everyone puts a lot of commitment into this and this gives everyone a boost at the same time as we are strengthened in our belief that we are on the right path, Rikard Rodén, CEO of Nordic Biomarker, stated last week when the company was presented as one of three nominees for the award.

Jennie Ekbeck, The CEO of Umeå Biotech Incubator, says that it is a recognition for the whole industry that a Life science company have been named the Export Success of the Year in Sweden.

– Life science is an important part of Sweden's exports and it is fantastic that attention is now being paid to this by awarding Nordic Biomarker the prize. Sweden has the ability to transform knowledge into products that solve challenges worldwide. Nordic Biomarker also puts Umeå on the map and is a role model for others, she says.

Winner motivation

"In recent years, Nordic Biomarker has demonstrated an impressive growth rate and a strong, genuine Swedish ability to innovate that saves lives. The company, with its all-Swedish research and production, is a role model in its sector. The fact that almost all production is exported to leading medical technology companies helps Sweden to end up on the international map in life science. I am proud of our Swedish small and medium-sized companies that are internationalising", says Minister of Foreign Trade Anna Hallberg.
